Get Your Business Found on Google Local

If you have setup your ‘Google My Business’ profile the next step is to increase the chances of it being found when a potential customer carries out a search looking for your services.

The key to achieving this is by having citation listings as this will help Google and other search engines validate your business location and details. Citations are ‘Mentions’ of your business on web pages other than your own, featuring your address, phone number and other details relevant to your business. Examples could be online yellow pages or your local chamber of commerce. 

Best practice

• Business Name: Make sure the business title used matches your Google My Business profile and is consistent across all listings. This makes it easier for search engines to link all your citation listings together.

If possible have a business descriptor in the name, like ‘Dans Mobile Valeting’. This could improve your visibility when someone carries out a relevant search and increase the likelihood of someone clicking on your listing as you have made it clear what service you provide.

• Categories: Choose the most relevant categories and keep them consistent across all citations. This again will make it clear to search engines what it is you provide. It will also make it easy for potential customers looking for your services to find you.

• Photos & Videos: Uploading photos and videos will allow people to familiarise themselves with you and your business which will help you gain their trust. Uploading media on your Google Profile will also let Google and other search engines know you are actively maintaining the business account and this helps with visibility in search results.
